Highway Stars reproduction coolant bypass S-hose for 1986-1987 Vin 7 Buick Grand Nationals, Turbo Regals, 1987 GNX and 1989 Turbo Trans Am. It is an upgraded hose (NEW EPDM Formulation) constructed of electro-chemical resistant rubber.
Using a lesser quality rubber has been known to cause unexpected failures of radiator, heater and thermostat by-pass hoses in relatively low-mileage passenger vehicles. This failure will often occur with little or no sign of exterior deterioration of the hose.
(See 2nd picture which shows ECD - Electrochemical Degradation).
(ECD is a chemical reaction which causes microcracks in the hose allowing the coolant to attack and weaken the hose reinforcement. Accelerated by high-heat and flexing, the hose can develop a pinhole leak or rupture under normal pressure.)

It was great to be able to find this part. I bought this car brand new in 86 while I was a tech at the Buick dealer The fit was perfect Unfortunate that it cost more to ship then the part cost bur was still a deal for a hose that was never made in the aftermarket 5 stars
